Hungering For A Late Night Slice? Follow These After-Hours Pizza Tips

Posted on

There's nothing worse than a rumbling stomach late at night after most restaurants have closed their doors. Late-night hunger attacks are an inevitable part of life, whether you're up late studying or hanging out with friends. Pizza might sound like a tempting solution, but how are you supposed to get those tasty slices to your door when sunrise is looking a lot closer than yesterday's sunset?

Fortunately, there's no end to the wonders of the 21st century, and there's a good chance you can find some pizzerias in your area that deliver well into the night. If you're ready to curb those hunger pangs, these three tips will help you get a perfect pizza delivered to your door at any hour of the night.

1. Call Before Ordering

Online food delivery apps and sites offer an easy and convenient way to get pizza (and everything else) dropped at your doorstep, but late-night orders can present some challenges. Not every business religiously updates its hours, and you may be disappointed to find your order canceled after you place it. Missing out on your food can be frustrating, and you may have the added steps of getting a refund.

Instead, always call ahead, even if you want to use an app to place your order. A simple phone call will help you confirm that the pizzeria is still open, taking orders, and making deliveries. Once you know that you can get your pizza delivered, you can go ahead and order using whatever method you prefer the most.

2. Give It Some Time

Many restaurants may have fewer workers at night and only a handful of delivery drivers. Depending on how busy they are, it may take longer to prepare your order and get it to you. While you shouldn't hesitate to call the restaurant if your order seems exceptionally late, you should prepare to give your delivery a little bit more time than you'd usually expect.

Don't forget to keep a light on, as well. Your driver might have difficulty finding your home late at night, and making yourself stand out from your neighbors means that it'll be easier for your driver to locate you. The sooner they can find your house, the sooner you can start digging into your pizza.

3. Be Generous

Your delivery driver is staying up late to get your food to you, so it's always a kind gesture to be generous. You don't need to go overboard, but be sure to follow a good tipping guide and say thank you (if you aren't using contactless delivery). These small gestures don't cost much, but a little kindness goes a long way and may even mean a faster delivery next time you're in the mood for midnight pizza.
