Unique Mac And Cheese Entrees To Add To Your Restaurant Menu

Posted on

Who doesn't love macaroni and cheese? It's delicious, filling, and comforting. Some people will order traditional macaroni and cheese, but others may feel it is better off as a side dish. However, if you are already preparing macaroni and cheese in your restaurant kitchen, you can easily use that macaroni and cheese to create more complete entrees. Here are two such macaroni and cheese-based entrees to consider adding to your menu.

Pulled Pork and Macaroni

Macaroni and cheese is a traditional side dish for barbecue food, like pulled pork. But what if you combine the two? You get an incredible entree that both barbecue and cheese lovers will be excited to order.

You can make this dish with the macaroni and cheese recipe you're already using and any pulled pork that you prefer. It comes out best if you prepare each dish to-order. Layer some pulled pork into the bottom of a ceramic dish and scoop some macaroni and cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes, or until the macaroni starts to look bubbly and slightly crisp. Drizzle some barbecue sauce on top before serving.

If you have barbecue brisket on hand, you can also use that in place of the pulled pork.

Macaroni With Mixed Veggies

Sometimes people do not order macaroni and cheese simply because they're looking for something healthier. Adding veggies to the macaroni and cheese won't take away from its fat content. However, it will make the dish healthier by adding some vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Really, you can add any veggies that you want, but the combination recommended here is a delicious starting point.

This one is best made in a larger batch. Take about 8 servings of your typical macaroni and cheese, and stir in 2 large, chopped tomatoes, 1 onion that has been chopped and sauteed, and 1 cup of mushrooms that have been chopped and sauteed. When someone orders this veggie macaroni and cheese, scoop a serving into a ceramic dish.  If you desire, you can sprinkle it with some breadcrumbs or some crushed-up crackers. Bake it at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes.

With these macaroni and cheese entrees on your restaurant's menu, you'll probably find that more of your guests order mac and cheese. Over time, your restaurant will probably gain quite a following because people love trying new, satisfying macaroni dishes like these.
